Solar canvassing workflow on BetterKnocks

How a solar door-to-door crew runs a week on BetterKnocks: turf assignment, knock logging, sit-downs, and manager standup.

This playbook follows a common solar D2D pattern: setters knock neighborhoods, book sit-downs, closers run appointments. Names are illustrative; the workflow matches how Elite solar teams configure the product.

Monday: turf and list

  1. Manager draws three zones in a suburb and assigns one to each setter crew.
  2. Last season's CSV is imported; duplicates on address are merged.
  3. Pin types distinguish not home, sit-down scheduled, and hard no.

Tuesday through Friday: field

  • Setters open today's route on mobile and knock in order.
  • Sit-down disposition creates a lead stage change and drops a pin.
  • Appointments land on the shared calendar for closers.
  • Manager checks team performance at lunch: knocks and sit-down rate by zone.

Evening standup

Territory map shows which streets were actually walked. Reps who cherry-picked easy blocks are obvious from pin density. Closers only drive to leads with a logged sit-down, not a text thread.

Results teams track

  • Knocks per setter per day
  • Sit-down conversion by zone
  • Closes tied to the original knock rep via lead history
  • API export to the closer CRM if HQ requires it
